Day 2--We got on the road at 7 and headed towards Hot Springs, SD. We had planned a couple stops along the way. First we stopped in Paxton, NE with the plan to have lunch at Ole's. Too bad we didn't account for the time change and ended up getting there at 10 instead of 11 so we did breakfast instead. Winter has been to this restaurant a couple times when we lived in Ft. Collins and would stop on our way to Lincoln. The food is okay but what really bring people to Ole's is all the mounted animals they have on the walls including a polar bear, giraffe, and an elephant. The kids enjoyed walking around looking at everything.
Great Platte River Archway right outside Kearney, Ne
What the kids looked like for most of the trip!
Checking out the scenery.
Next we headed to Chimney Rock and then hopped back in the car for a
short drive to Stonehenge. The kids really enjoyed walking around
Stonehenge. We didn't know if it was because they thought it was really
neat or because they were tired of being in the car. Either way it was a
nice little stop to get out and stretch our legs. All too soon we were
back in the car headed for Hot Springs.
Along the trip the kids wanted us to take pictures of them with their stuffed Animals they brought. We started out good but by the time we got to Wyoming we quit.
When we got into Hot Springs we stopped at the Mammoth Site. We all found it very interesting. After that we took the
kids to Evan's Plunge. My Mom and Andrew have been there before a long
time ago, but this was my first time. Winter probably would have been
happy if we just stayed there for the rest of our vacation. She did not
want to leave!
*More to come soon!
